NATIONAL AWARDS RECIPIENTS
 

The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development introduced the scheme of National Awards to teachers in 1958-59, for raising their prestige and giving public recognition to their meritorious services in Primary, Middle and Higher Secondary schools. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan recommends the names of six teachers from the year 2002 for this award.

Keeping in view the outstanding contribution of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan in the field of education, Hon'ble  Human Resource Development Minister has increased the number of National Awards for teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan from six to sixteen in the following categories:


1.  Primary Teachers - 06 Awards
2.  Secondary / Senior Secondary Teachers (including Principals) - 06 Awards
3. Special Awards to teachers (including Principals) with disabilities or engaged in promoting integrated education of children with disabilities - 02 Awards.
4.  Special category awards for Physically Handicapped Primary Teachers - 02 Awards

Main considerations guiding the selection of teachers are:

1. Teacher's reputation in the Vidyalaya and local community.
2. Teacher's academic efficiency and desire for its improvement.
3. Teacher's genuine interest in and love for children, and
4. Teacher's involvement in the social life of the community.  

The selection of candidates for National Awards is done by committees consisting of Educationists and Officers of KVS at the following levels:

1. Identification at the Vidyalaya level
2. Selection at the Regional level
3. Final selection at the National level.
